Regie Cabico
7 p.m. • SURC Ballroom • Free and open to the public A master of spoken word, Regie Cabico is a prominent force in today’s poetry world and he’s bringing his “slamming” skills to Central Washington University. Cabico is a first generation Filipino-American performer who draws heavily from his personal experiences as both an immigrant and an openly gay performer. He has trail-blazed his way into the spotlight through performances that he describes as “theatrical showstoppers,” as his poems effortlessly weave together comedy and social messages. Cabico’s appearance at CWU is sponsored in part by the “Social Justice & Human Rights Dialogues: Migration.” In his performance he will discuss how his personal life has shaped his art form and the impacts of society on his migrant family.
