CWU Performing Arts & Presidential Speaker Series OUR ENVIRONMENT DESTINY: The noted environmentalist reflects on the value of our natural surroundings Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s reputation as a stanch defender of the environment emerged from a litany of successful legal actions including winning numerous settlements for Riverkeeper, an advocacy group that monitors the Hudson River ecosystem, and prosecuting governments and companies for polluting the Hudson River and Long Island Sound. Kennedy has worked on environmental issues across the Americas and has assisted several indigenous tribes in Latin America and Canada in successfully negotiating treaties protecting traditional homelands. In this inspiring lecture, ''A Contract With Our Future,'' he tells of time spent with his father on the Hudson River, recalls Native American folklore, and invokes a pride in America's physical landscape that leaves audiences breathless.
