Second Sunday Faculty Series to Feature Local Artist Jeannie Johnson
The Second Sunday Faculty Recital Series continues on Sunday, March 8 at 4 p.m. in the CWU Music Building Recital Hall. This free concert includes music faculty performers soprano Mia Spencer, violinist Denise Dillenbeck, violist Timothy Betts, flutist Hal Ott, oboist Brent Hages, hornist Jeffrey Snedeker, and pianists Elaine Ross and Nikolas Caoile. Music by Johannes Brahms, Madeleine Dring, Franz Schubert and William Grant Still will be performed while the art works of local visual artist Jeannie Johnson are projected on the Recital Hall screen. Original paintings displayed in the Schaake Rotunda can be viewed during the intermission as well as before and after the concert. Ellensburg resident, Jeannie Johnson has been active as an artist and teacher since 1983. She has extensive experience in many different media. Lately she has been pursuing pastels, her ?new favorite medium.? She paints each week with ColorWorks, a group of fellow artists who constantly inspire her to try new things and stretch herself creatively. Her work is found in private and corporate collections across the country, and her art has been featured in numerous galleries including the Clymer Museum of Art in Ellensburg, Washington. Her paintings are currently featured in Edena?s Gallery of Art in Coeur d?Alene, Idaho. Jeannie works from her private studio and gallery, and most of her original paintings are available as reproductions.
