Stories for Learning, Laptops for Growing
Please join us for an evening of storytelling, studying, and bookmaking! CWU students from Dr. Walker's, "Teaching Children's Literature" class, and Dr. Spybrook's, "Introduction to Special Education" class will be reading and telling stories with reading kits from 6-7 p.m.
The second hour, 7-8 p.m., will provide literacy-based learning activities for children ages 2-8. Activities will include reading in both Spanish and English, decorating books, and creating books. Children will take the books they create home. CWU Family Resource Center student employees and interns will be facilitating the second hour's activities.
Parents of children will be offered the opportunity to utilize library laptop computers while their children are at literacy events.
A certified teacher, sponsored by the CWU Early Childhood Learning Center, will be present for both hours to supervise activities for children ages 2- 8 years of age.
* These events are limited to the first 25 children each evening. Registration for parents and children: 5:45 p.m. Parents must not leave the library while their children are under the care of the teacher and students.
This project has been funded in part under the provisions of the Library and Services Technology Act, from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, administered by the Office of the Secretary of State, Washington State Library Division.
