SUB POP Day at CWU: Live Music, Book Signing
Bruce Pavitt, founder of Seattle-based independent record label Sub Pop Records, will be at Central Washington University for Sub Pop USA Day Friday, April 24 from 1 ? 3 p.m. in the Student Union and Recreation Center (SURC) Pit. This event will feature a Q&A discussion and book signing of Pavitt?s newly released book ?Sub Pop USA.? Ellensburg native, founding member of the musical group The Screaming Trees and major player of the 1990?s music movement Mark Pickerel will also be performing a live solo acoustic set and Calvin Johnson, an early Sub Pop collaborator and now at K Records and Beat Happening, will be spinning underground 45s and other vintage vinyl from the era as DJ Selector Dub Narcotic. In addition, Seattle Weekly Music Editor Mark Baumgarten will be moderating a Q&A session with the entire group. This event is free and open to the public. Additionally, proving you can have your pie and eat it too, 88.1 The ?Burg and Perkins Restaurant and Bakery will be giving out free pie to Sub Pop USA Day attendees while supplies last. Come shake hands with the music legends, hang out, ask questions, listen to music, eat pie and walk away with a signed edition of ?Sub Pop USA.?
