WA State Supreme Court Justice Gonzalez to speak at CWU April 6
The CWU Center and Diversity and Social Justice (CDSJ) has brought a variety of individuals from politicians to performers to campus to share their personal stories and offer perspective on equality, acceptance and diversity. CDSJ is partnering with the CWU Law and Justice Club and CWU MEChA (Movimiento Estudiantil Chicana/o de Aztlan) to host Washington State Supreme Court Justice Steven Gonzalez on Monday, April 6 at 6:30 p.m. in the CWU Student Union and Recreation Center (SURC) room 137. Gonzalez will give a speech entitled ?The Promise of Equality is Justice for all.? Attendance is free and open to the public. Gonzalez began his six-year term on the Washington State Supreme Court in 2012, before which he served on the King County Superior Court and practiced both criminal and civil law. Because Gonzalez is passionate about providing all people with access to the justice system, as a lawyer he regularly represented people who could not afford lawyers pro bono.
