Winter Jazz Nite Scheduled at Central Washington University
Students of the CWU Jazz Studies program will present their Winter Quarter Jazz Nite on Friday, March 13, at 7 p.m. in the Central Washington University Music Building Concert Hall. Tickets are available at the door ? $5 general admission, $3 students, seniors and children. "We are excited to present our groups in their last concert of winter quarter," said Chris Bruya, director of Jazz Studies at Central. The concert will feature four jazz bands and three vocal jazz ensembles, with a varied repertoire of 1940s swing-era tunes to the most recent compositions in the idiom and some selections arranged and/or composed by CWU students and faculty. The concert will also showcase the fine Vocal Jazz I group, directed by Professor Vijay Singh, which recently performed at the Northwest Music Educators Convention in Spokane.
