Central Washington State Fair
The annual 10-day Central Washington State Fair, presented by Legends Casino Hotel, will
run September 20th – 29TH with this year’s Fair theme, “Harvest the Fun.” There is a lot to celebrate in our Valley around
harvest season and this year the Fair will be highlighting one of the top commodities grown in the valley – Apples. The
Fair’s feature agricultural display will focus on the history of the apple industry, and the varieties grown in our Valley and
how Yakima Valley feeds the world with this delicious, sweet fruit.
To support this year’s theme, the Fair is launching its official CWSF Apple Pie Baking Contest. “So, Bakers’ dust off your
favorite apple pie recipes and start planning, you could go home with $500 1st place prize money and bragging rights for
the best Apple Pie in the Valley,” said CEO Kathy Kramer. There will be two categories – adult and youth with three prize
levels. The apple pie judging will take place on Saturday, September 21st and contest winners will be announced on the
Pacific Power Community Stage at 3:00 pm that same day. For details and to register to enter the contest visit
