CWU Celebrates Pride Week
It’s that time of year again to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community, and CWU is set to host a week’s worth of events for CWU Pride Week Monday, May 25 through Friday, May 29. Pride is a nationally recognized movement in celebration of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual and ally culture with annual events scheduled in cities and communities across the globe. A wide range of events are planned for CWU, from professional lectures to drag shows.

Neville Hoad: “Drag & the Pedagogy of the Normal Lessons from Botswana's Miss HIV Stigma-Free Beauty Pageant”
A lecture on the history and cultural impact of Botswana’s Miss HIV Beauty Pageant, where all of the contestants are open about being HIV positive.

The “Political Aesthetics of Drag” is part of a larger project about artists and activists who use drag in their work. Dr. McGlotten argues that their drag personas and performances can provide unique vantage points from which to consider our shared political present.
