CWU Welcomes Captain Charles Moore: Awareness for Our Plastic Infested Oceans
To honor Earth Day and to raise awareness for environmentalism, the CWU Environmental Club will host Captain Charles Moore, founder of the Algalita Marine Research Institute and discoverer of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, for two speeches Tuesday, April 22 at noon and 4 p.m. in the CWU Student Union and Recreation Center (SURC) Theatre. Attendance to both speeches is free, and everyone is welcome to attend and hear Captain Moore?s story while learning about plastic pollution. Both of Captain Moore?s speeches at CWU will shed light on the negative impacts of plastic in the environment. His first speech at noon is titled, ?Plastic Pollution of the Marine Environment: A Rapidly Increasing, Long-Term Threat? and his second at 4 p.m. is titled ?What is Plastic?s Meaning ?
